Art Against Pollution: “Banquet of Kings” Becomes a Reality in Limerick

Limerick, Ireland – Can art offer us a new perspective when facing the growing challenges of pollution and overconsumption? This is what “Banquet of Kings,” the photographic project by conceptual and fine art photographer Céline Mermier, proposes. Rooted in the heart of Limerick, this ambitious work aims to provoke reflection and visually confront us with the impact of our lifestyles on the planet.
The project recently reached a significant milestone yesterday, August 9, 2025, with a crucial photoshoot carried out right here in Limerick. This moment was instrumental in transforming Céline Mermier’s artistic vision into concrete scenes, which will form the core of the upcoming exhibition (Credit photo group shot: Céline Mermier).
An Impactful Message at the Heart of the Creation
“Banquet of Kings” was born from a deep desire to raise awareness without moralizing. As Céline Mermier expresses: “This is a call for introspection, an invitation to closely examine the consequences of our choices. Yesterday’s photoshoot in Limerick allowed us to advance in realizing the vision we have for this project.” The goal is to spark astonishment and engage the public in a reflection on humanity’s impact on the planet.
The exhibition will feature a central photographic tableau, staged to embody the duality of opulence and environmental realities through five models. This central piece will be complemented by five individual photographs, each highlighting a distinct ecological emergency. The project’s very title, “Banquet of Kings,” is a chosen metaphor contrasting the extravagance of our consumption habits with the devastating repercussions on our environment.
